Life in Beta

Me? I think I’ll be hanging out at home. Mike and I had planned to go out (I’ve never gone out for New Years in my entire life) but he has to work early the next morning, so I think we’re going to stay in. There will be some Asti involved, though.

Could those two be any stinkin’ cuter!? For serious.

Highlights of Christmas morning with my hunny and Little Man …

Some of my favorite moments (which you can see in the video):

• Being more interested in petting Stuart (our cat) than opening presents. (This will be the last year for that, I’m sure!)
• Little Man: “I love my stocking!” (I knitted it for him, and that comment just made my heart burst, even if he probably was referring to what was in the stocking…)
• The smile on Little Man’s face when he tried out his recorder.
• Little Man insisting on taking a break from opening presents to brush his teeth. (What kid does that!?)
• Little Man using his new toy-tools to open the remainder of his gifts.
• Mike: “You’re scratching my head … with the saw?!” (Perfectly logical…)

Though this is far from being a typical love song, for me the lyrics convey an ultimate expression of love between soulmates. It’s one of my favorite songs, and has such a special meaning in my heart.

The song was made famous by Death Cab for Cutie, but this particular cover is the best I’ve heard and I prefer it to the original. The video makes me cry…
